略歴
1982年オーバーン大学で生産工学分野の理学士取得。
1988年デューク大学でMBA取得。
IBMのPCロジスティクス部門で12年勤務。
コンパック のバイスプレジデントを半年務める。
1998年Appleに入社。
2005年10月14日Apple社COOに就任。
2005年11月18日Nike社取締役に就任。
2011年08月24日Apple社CEOに就任。
どういう人物か
サプライチェーンマネージメントの専門家。
海外の工場を閉鎖して、製造を委託するファブレス化を推進。新製品発表時に旧製品の在庫処分を行っていた状況から、旧製品の在庫を抱えずに新製品を発表する体制にする。結果、そのオペレーションがAppleの高い収益性を実現していると考えられる。
Jobsの今後
取締役会の会長となってApple社に関与していくらしい。
私見
個人的な感想としては、まず、Steve Jobsの体調が悪化していないことを祈ります。
今回のCEO辞任の原因が体調の悪化でなければ、今後は、Steve JobsがCEOという責任のある地位から退いたことで、今まで以上に気軽に革新的なアイデアを出しやすくなるのではないかと思います。
ユーザ視点にたった斬新なアイディアを生み出してくれることを期待します。
株価は下がったようですが、Apple社は、カリスマ性のある創業者がCEOから退いて会長職という気楽な立場になったことによって、経営の合理化が進められ業績が業界内で相対的に高いものになっていくのではないかな？
